It was a big day Saturday for local high school sports teams.
The Newport Harbor High girls’ volleyball team became CIF Southern Section Division I-AA champions with a win against rival Los Alamitos.
The Corona del Mar High girls’ cross country team placed second in the CIF Division III race at Mt. San Antonio College.
The CdM girls’ volleyball team lost in the CIF Division II-AA title match at Cyprus College.
The Newport Harbor boys’ water polo team lost the CIF Division I title to El Toro, 11-9, at Irvine High.
