Alternative market takes place Sunday

St. Mark Presbyterian Church will host its 26th annual Alternative Christmas Market from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday in Newport Beach, not today, as originally reported Friday in the Daily Pilot.

About two dozen secular and faith-based charities will offer handcrafts, jewelry, fair-trade coffee and chocolates, Christmas note cards, wreaths, candy and more.

Many alternative gifts also will be available at the market, such as donating money toward the cost of a wheelchair or sending farming supplies to developing countries.

All proceeds will go to the charities. Shoppers can buy lentil soup and corn bread for $5 to support the Presbyterian Hunger Program. For a list of participating organizations, visit www.stmarkpresbyterian.org, or call (949) 644-1341.

Admission and parking at the holiday market is free. St. Mark is at 2200 San Joaquin Hills Road.
