UCI trio earns All-Big West honors

UC Irvine sophomore defender Judy Christopher has been named first-team All-Big West Conference in women’s soccer.
Anteaters junior Tayna Taylor and freshman Dana Sanderlin were second-team honorees after helping UCI (12-7-2, 4-3-1 in conference) finish tied for fourth place and advance to the four-team conference tournament.
Christopher, the first UCI player to earn first-team recognition since 2003, helped the ’Eaters post nine shutouts. She also scored three goals and added one assist.
Taylor and Sanderlin both had six goals and four assists to lead the team in scoring with 16 points.
Taylor was a repeat second-team pick. She received honorable mention as a freshman.
Danielle de Seriere, who had eight shutouts in 19 starts and posted an 0.99 goals-against average, earned honorable mention.
UCI lost in the semifinals of the Big West Tournament to regular-season champion Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
