Daisy, Jenny and Rose

These three sisters joined the Community Animal Network’s through the “free” spay for momma cat program.

Daisy, Jenny and Rose look like Russian blues and are being cared for by the Kerr family of Newport Beach (Russell, 18, Garret, 16, Kyla, 15, and Alex, 12) to satisfy the mandatory community service hours required by today’s schools.

The free spay program is available to people whose kittens find homes through the network, as the adoption fees help support the “free” program.

“I did not know that my kitten could get pregnant,” is what we commonly hear. Kittens allowed to go outdoors for playtime may wander away when “feeling their oats” and when in heat. They often end up pregnant in someone’s else’s backyard. Four-month-old neutered males also leave home, searching for females.

Because of these facts, Community Animal Network believes in responsible rescuing of spays and neuters prior to adoption with the state law of California that went into effect in January 2000.

Meet Daisy, Jenny and Rose and other cats and kittens up for adoption on weekends, from noon to 4 p.m. at Fashion Island sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience. See photos at www.animalnetwork.org.
