Oilers face huge challenge
Huntington Beach (5-3, 2-1) vs. El Toro (5-3, 2-1), 7 p.m.: Huntington Beach was unable to move the ball offensively against Trabuco Hills last week and lost to the Mustangs, 51-10.
Starting quarterback Sean Guite was held to 109 yards passing and running back Jack Dilbeck ran for 64 yards. Senior Kaller Roemer led the team with his 105 all-purpose yards.
El Toro, fresh off a 28-17 victory against Woodbridge, hopes to extend its winning streak to three against the Oilers.
Edison (8-0, 3-0) vs. Fountain Valley (8-0, 3-0), 7 p.m.: Edison, fresh off a 27-10 victory over Los Alamitos, and Fountain Valley, coming off a close 37-32 win over Newport Harbor, clash in the “Battle for the Bell,” which will be at Cal State Fullerton.
The 32 points Fountain Valley allowed last week is the highest amount of points the Barons have allowed this season.
Edison, on the other hand, has not allowed more than 10 points in its last three contests.
The Chargers’ offense is led by Wade Houston’s 86.8 yards per game rushing and Matt Viles’ 254.8 passing yards per game.
Edison’s defensive leaders are Jordan Zumwalt’s 15 tackles per game and Charles Burks’ 1.4 sacks per game.
Ocean View (3-5, 0-3) at Orange (2-6, 1-2), 7 p.m.: After losing a close Golden West League bout to Santa Ana, 40-36, last week, the Seahawks hope to start off November like October – with a win.
Orange lost to Segerstrom, 35-14, in its last game and hopes to get back on the win column. Orange has alternated wins and losses in its last five contests.
Marina (1-7, 0-3) vs. Newport Harbor (4-4, 1-2), 7 p.m.: Marina hopes to start off November the way they started off October – with a win.
Marina lost to Esperanza, 52-27, last week and has not won a game since Oct. 9, when the Vikings defeated Western, 40-28.
Newport Harbor lost a close Sunset League game to Fountain Valley, 37-32, last week and lost four out of their last five games.
Brethren Christian (4-4, 0-1) vs. St. Margaret’s (7-1, 1-0), 7 p.m.: Brethren Christian lost its Academy League opener to Sage Hill, 20-13, last week despite Ryan Randall’s 212 yards rushing on 40 carries with two touchdowns and one interception on defense.
St. Margaret’s, the defending CIF champion, started its Academy League with a shutout win against Crean Lutheran South, 56-0, last week.
St. Margaret’s is coming off of a strong October, where the Tartans outscored its opponents 198-6 and won all four games.
Los Amigos (0-8, 0-3) at Garden Grove (8-0, 3-0), 7 p.m.: The Lobos fell to Rancho Alamitos, 41-10, last week and are still searching for its first win of the season.
Los Amigos’ opponent, the Garden Grove Argonauts, is 8-0 and defeated Garden Grove league opponent La Quinta, 62-0.
In October, the Argonauts allowed less than seven points per game.
