Man given chairman’s award for achievement
A Huntington Beach man was honored at a national conference for achievements in science, technology, engineering or math.
Alejandro Lopez was given the “Great Minds in STEM” Chairman’s Award for 2009. Lopez is the vice president of advanced network and space systems in Integrated Defense Systems for the Boeing Co.
Lopez manages a staff of more than 1,000 people and works with a budget of $20 million in long-range business plans. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Princeton University and his Master’s degree at Stanford University.
Lopez was chosen by a selection committee comprised of industry professionals, academics and governmental officials. He was honored at a conference by HENAAC, an organization dedicated to effective recruitment, recognition and retention of Hispanic talent.
