COSTA MESA — Gabriela Valles, Kathleen McDonald, Karri Currier and Amanda Couch each connected in the shootout as the Lions advanced to the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament.
After Currier’s shot, Concordia missed. Then after Couch’s goal, the Eagles (8-5-4) missed again.
Vanguard (11-1-5), the third seed in the eight-team GSAC Tournament and ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, will play at No. 2-seeded Cal Baptist Friday.

UC Irvine def. Seattle
IRVINE — McCall Miller recorded a season-high 18 kills to help lead the Anteaters to a 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 nonconference win Tuesday.
Kari Pestolesi, playing libero, had a season-high 26 digs for UCI (18-6).
Vanguard def. Westmont
SANTA BARBARA — Kesley Wirt had 24 kills and 16 digs to help lead the No. 10-ranked Lions to a 24-26, 25-16, 24-26, 25-21, 15-13 Golden State Athletic Conference win Tuesday.
Heather DeJongh added 17 kills and Lisa Morgan had 11 kills and 13 digs for Vanguard (16-10, 10-7 in conference).

BERKELEY — Diana Neves scored 18 points and was one of five players in double figures for the Lions against the No. 18-ranked Bears.
Jaclyn Blied and Alexandra Halberg scored 15 points each, while Rachel Copeland added 14 and Bridgette Reye had 12.
