Mars Rover model will be at park

A model of the Mars Rover will be on display at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve as part of a stargazing event at the park Saturday.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists, who designed the rover, will give a lecture on the space agency’s latest missions and explorations. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 2301 University Drive.
Attendees will have a chance to look through telescopes and learn from local astronomers during a presentation on stars. Children’s activities also are planned throughout the evening.
