LAS CRUCES, N.M. — UC Irvine junior Hillary Packard finished third individually to lead the Anteaters to a second-place team finish in the 54-hole event completed Wednesday at the New Mexico State Golf Course.
Packard finished with consecutive rounds of one-under-par 71 and compiled a three-round score of 215, nine shots off overall winner Christine Wong of San Diego State.
Sophomore Joy Trotter (fourth, 217), sophomore Lalita Patipaksiri and senior Henna Cho (tied for 14th, 223) and senior Mariko Makabe (36th, 227) also contributed for UCI, which was seven shots off the pace of victorious Idaho in the 18-school field.
It was the final fall tournament for the Anteaters.
UCI returns to competition at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Country Club, Feb. 8-10.
