Buddy’s Adoption Story

In mid-April, my first mommy took me to Second Chance Pet Adoptions and gave me up for adoption. I’m not sure why she did it but I do know my new mommy is very glad she did otherwise we wouldn’t be together now. Thankfully, I was only in Petco for a couple weeks before she started volunteering and decided immediately to take me home. Once I was in my new home, my name got changed from Sydney to Buddy (I think mostly because the little kids that visited couldn’t say Sydney).
I loved my new home and my new mommy. However, we had only been together for a week when Mommy brought home another cat and 4 kittens, all 5 female! What’s a boy to do? Well after a little sniffing and hissing we all found out we were going to be friends. I really liked having them around to play with and cuddle. Then slowly, one by one as they got bigger, each of them left me for their forever homes. I was sad for days! Mommy couldn’t take me being so sad and crying all the time so she went to Petco and brought me home a forever brother, Riley!
Riley and I are best friends and love each other so much. We play together all the time. Our favorite is this big blue circle with a ball in it. We each sit on a side and play catch by rolling the ball back and forth between us. Sometimes I sit in the middle of it to make Riley mad so he will chase me. That’s lots of fun.
Riley is so cool. Sometimes I’m afraid of new people, but not Riley. He’s so brave! He wants to know what everything is and goes to check out any new people or noises we hear in the window. If there’s something cool, he goes into the room and meows at me to come out to look. Riley’s so much fun and so good to have around that I don’t even mind when I have to share him with Mommy. Sometimes I even let him have the last few treats when we get them.
I’m very grateful to Second Chance Pet Adoptions for haven given me the opportunity to have this great new life. Without them, Mommy wouldn’t have Riley and me. None of us would be the same without each other.
