Police Files:

That’s one expensive cup of coffee.

For one Mission Viejo woman, a trip to a Corona del Mar Starbucks cost her much more than a few dollars after she found someone had broken into her car.

According to the incident report, sometime between 6:45 and 8 p.m. Saturday, someone pried into the woman’s car while it was parked at Starbucks, 7958 E. Coast Hwy. The thief stole the woman’s purse, which had $2,000 in cash inside, according to the police logs.

In a separate incident, a Newport Beach teenager is due back in court later this month on charges that he threatened a man. According to Costa Mesa police, Andrew Breedlove, 18, threatened to seriously injure or kill a man, if he did not drop burglary charges against Breedlove and his friend.
