Caller questioned suspect and found answers guilty

A caller reported her laptop missing and named the person she believed responsible in the 16800 block of Moody Circle at 2:35 p.m. Saturday.

The caller claimed she left a casual acquaintance in her apartment while she was moving in.

The acquaintance invited her son, who has a criminal and drug history, to the apartment while she was alone for several hours.

The caller later noticed her laptop was missing and claims she knows the son stole it. The caller reported she works in loss prevention and has made more than 300 private persons arrests.

The caller said the son answered her questions the way a guilty person would.

Brimhall Lane: A caller reported six males “raising hell” in the 16200 block at 2:39 a.m. Saturday.

Irby Lane: A caller reported eight potted plants missing from his back fence in the 16600 block at 8:21 a.m. Saturday. The caller claimed they were plumeria plants and worth about $130.

Angler Lane: A caller reported her purse was stolen out of an unlocked red F150 in the 16200 block at 11:07 a.m. Saturday. The caller said the purse contained her credit cards.

Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue: A caller reported a drunk driver at 2:08 a.m. Monday.

Aldrich Avenue: A caller reported hearing a neighbor’s dog being beaten in the 7800 block at 9:20 a.m. Monday. The caller claimed to be able to hear the dog crying and the neighbor yelling. Police found the dog shaking and looking ill, but with no signs of injury. The neighbor told police the dog was sick and was being taken to the vet.

Mandalay Circle: A caller reported a kayak stolen during the night in the 16200 block at 4:18 p.m. Monday. The caller claimed the kayak was worth $1,100.

Barton Drive: A caller reported a physical fight between 15 people in the 4800 block at 12:03 a.m. Saturday.

Goldenwest Street and Garfield Avenue: A caller reported a drunk driver at 12:19 a.m. Saturday.

Misty Lane: A caller reported a loud crash or explosion near their house waking them up in the 17500 block at 1:01 a.m. Saturday.

Whitford Lane: A caller reported four males walking down a street, trying the doors to cars in the 17800 block at 2:21 a.m. Saturday. The caller claimed the youths opened a car door and appeared to be trying to commit a theft or burglary. The police cited the boys, all underage, for breaking curfew and released them to their parents.

Goldenwest Street and Ellis Avenue: A caller reported a drunk driver at 12:24 a.m. Sunday.

California Street: A caller reported loud music at a party with 10 people in the 2000 block at 1:04 a.m. Sunday.

Happy Drive: A caller reported hearing a shot fired and the rattling of a cage in the 7800 block at 3:18 a.m. Sunday.

Flintstone Lane: A caller reported his neighbor made threats to kill him 30 years ago in the 17500 block at 8:46 p.m. Monday. The caller claimed the neighbor was upset over his dog barking.

Beach Boulevard and Sunrise Drive: A caller reported a white Camry by the beach had been stolen at 7:38 a.m. Sunday.

Main Street: A caller reported a bike theft in the 2000 block at 12:12 p.m. Monday.

Carmania Lane: A caller reported a stray 25-pound turtle in the street in the 19900 block at 3:21 p.m. Saturday.

Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue: A caller reported their friend fell off his bike and hit his head at 9:01 a.m. Sunday. The caller claimed the friend was disoriented and couldn’t remember things like where he was or how old he was. The bicyclist was transported to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.

Lemontree Lane: A caller reported two teens loitering in the 21300 block at 1:59 p.m. Monday. The caller claimed the male and female were waiting for a drug deal.

Toucan Avenue: A caller reported suspicious circumstances in the 9769 block at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday.

Magnolia Street: A caller reported an intoxicated person in the 18959 block at 3:33 p.m. Monday.

Talbert Avenue: A caller reported grand theft at a medical center in the 9940 block at 5:53 p.m. Monday.

Santa Veronica Circle: A caller reported a domestic dispute in the 18457 block at 7:22 p.m. Monday.

Bushard Street: A caller reported vandalism in the 18700 block at 9:42 a.m. Monday.

Brookhurst Street: A caller reported a suspicious vehicle outside a fast food restaurant in the 18225 block at 11:25 p.m. Sunday.

Brookhurst Street: A caller reported a juvenile disturbance at a restaurant in the 18279 block at 9:50 a.m. Sunday.

El Valle Avenue: A caller reported a domestic dispute in the 9308 block at 11:42 a.m. Sunday.

Bushard Street: A caller reported vandalism in the 1600 block at 9:14 a.m. Monday.

Warner Avenue: A caller reported petty theft at a cigar store in the 11067 block at 1:08 p.m. Monday.

Kalama River Avenue: A caller reported petty theft at an electronics store in the 10800 block at 3:20 p.m. Sunday.

Ward Street: A caller reported grand theft at a church in the 17270 block at 8:20 p.m. Sunday.
