Taryn Robertson had 37 assists for UCI (9-2).

Ali Troost had 23 kills to lead five players with double-digit kills for San Diego (6-3).

COSTA MESA — Lions junior Landon Herrera converted an assist by freshman Celestino Diaz in the 74th minute, but the lead vanished 53 seconds later in the nonconference game Wednesday.

Two overtime periods were scoreless as goalkeeper Cody Adams had one save for Vanguard, which posted a 12-7 advantage in shots.

Vanguard is now 2-3-1.
