Vanguard students volunteer en masse
Hundreds of Vanguard University students will live up to the school’s mission to help the local community when they volunteer Saturday for nonprofit organizations across Orange County.
More than 450 students from the college, next to Costa Mesa’s City Hall, are expected to volunteer at more than 20 county nonprofits as part of the school’s annual City Serve event. Vanguard’s first City Serve event was in 2004.
This year’s event will have students, faculty and staff volunteering at beach clean-ups, working at food banks, ministering to the homeless and providing child care for families in need.
The Vanguard University community members will work with the Earth Resource Foundation, the Orange County Food Bank, City Lights Dream Center and the Talbert Nature Preserve, among others. The event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. rally at the school. Volunteers will work from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
