Catherine S. Newman

Catherine S. Newman passed away peacefully on September 12, 2009 at her home in Newport Beach at age 97. Born July 5, 1912 in Duluth, MN. She married Wilbur Newman in 1938. They worked and traveled together throughout the country and the world. As a widow and with sister Blanche, she criss-crossed the US, Mexico and Canada in their RV

Catherine also volunteered for the Hoag Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

She is preceded in death by parents Henrietta and James Shaw, siblings Dorothy, Stuart, Gerald, William and Blanche, husband Wilbur and son Peter. She is survived by son Robert (Mary Jo), nephew Jerry Shaw, niece Betty Olson (Peter), grandsons Brandon and Clark.

A wonderful wife, mother and friend—a truly decent, kind and loving woman, she will be dearly missed.

Services at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2009.
