Health-care reform proponents to march in Newport

Organizers of a march in support of heath-care reform slated for Monday in Newport Beach are asking participants to bring American flags and pictures of loved ones who have been denied coverage by the insurance industry.
The march is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will begin along Newport Center Drive adjacent to Fashion Island.
“The insurance industry has gone unchecked in its profiteering by denying people health-care coverage,” march organizer Alan Boinus said in a written statement. “A public option would force private insurance to do a better job for the public through competition.”
Groups participating in the march include the Service Employees International Union Local 721, Organizing for America and the Insure the Uninsured Project.
