Burnham, Sary take first in tournament
Kirby Burnham and Cinnamon Sary will have more than enough to write about if asked to give details about their summer when they go back to Newport Harbor High in a few weeks.
Burnham, a senior outside hitter for the Sailors, and teammate Sary, a sophomore setter, won the girls’ 18-and-under title in the California Beach Volleyball Assn. tournament in Huntington Beach Saturday.
As the championship team, Burnham and Sary qualified to play in the Manhattan CBVA Championships Sept. 5-6 in Manhattan Beach.
Burnham, a captain of the Newport Harbor volleyball squad, was listed in National Volleyball Magazine as one of the top 30 underclassman to watch this year. She committed early to play at USC in 2010.
Newport Harbor opens its season Sept. 9 at Long Beach Poly
