Family offers reward for tips

There is a $25,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of whoever shot a Costa Mesa man and his co-worker to death earlier this year, Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials announced Thursday morning.
The family of Elizabeth Palmer, 50, of Fountain Valley, announced at a news conference at Sheriff’s Department headquarters that they were putting up the reward to help find her and Matthew Scott’s killer.
Scott, 42, and Palmer were found shot to death Feb. 2 in the front office of Golden Sun Homes, a manufactured home dealership, in Stanton. Investigators are still at a loss for a motive, noting that there isn’t enough cash at the business to indicate it was a robbery.
Authorities also said the only thing missing from the scene was Palmer’s white 2004 Lexus GS300, which they still have not been able to find.
After six months of searching for answers, Palmer’s family is growing desperate.
“I don’t want this to go to a cold case,” said Richard Palmer, Elizabeth’s husband. “I don’t know more than the day it happened . . . after six months of no answers, it wears you out.”
“If anyone knows anything, please come forward. Please,” pleaded Penny Moore, Elizabeth’s sister.
Scott’s family, including his father, Don, who owns the business where the murders took place, did not show up for the reward announcement.
Sheriff’s officials maintain that the potential key to unlock this case is Palmer’s car, if they could find it. They’ve contacted agencies throughout the nation, along the borders and in Mexico to see whether the car has turned up.
Investigator Joe Gaul warned local scrap dealers that if they have information about the car and aren’t talking, they will be held accountable.
“If we connect you to this case, we will charge you as an accessory to murder,” he said.
If anyone has any information about the case, call Gaul at (714) 647-7087.
