Boy Scout-planted trees cut, broken
The coordinator of the Butterfly Park, also known as Gibbs Park, in the 16600 block of Graham Street between Warner and Heil avenues, said at 7:14 a.m. Sunday that several trees had been cut or broken down overnight.
The trees were planted recently by a Boy Scout troop.
Graveyard units were assigned to make extra patrol checks of the park at night.
Springdale Street at Edinger Avenue: Someone lit a garage sale poster on fire at 1 a.m. Sunday.
Crandall Drive: A caller said they heard “rumbling†from the abandoned house next door in the 6400 block at 1:49 a.m. Sunday. A strange man was seen taking household items from the home earlier in the day. Police were unable to locate anyone.
Heil Avenue at Graham Place: A caller said a cab driver had been driving him around for an hour, refusing to let him out, at 2:04 a.m. Sunday. The man said the driver then let them out and began following them. Police spoke to the parties, and the cab driver left without seeking payment.
Meadowlark Drive: A cab driver said his drunken fare refused to pay him in the 5200 block at 2:24 a.m. Sunday. The passenger eventually paid him and left.
Goldenwest Street at Bluebonnet Drive: A caller said two drunken men hit him and threw up in his cab at 3:07 a.m. Sunday.
Algonquin Street: Several callers reported hearing a woman yelling “help†and “you’re hurting me†in the 16700 block beginning at 4:19 a.m. Sunday. Police on the scene found a group of people watching a scary movie.
Leafwood Circle: A caller said the brake lines of both of his Jeep vehicles had been cut overnight in the 16800 block at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Warner Avenue: A caller said a fight was going on in the 6400 block at 11:11 a.m. Sunday. Police were unable to locate any sign of a fight.
Heil Avenue: A caller said a girl was being beaten up in the 4800 block at 11:34 a.m. Sunday. Police were unable to locate any sign of a fight.
Graham Street at McFadden Avenue: Juveniles were seen throwing rocks at vehicles at 11:42 a.m. Sunday. Two vehicles began chasing the children, but lost sight of them. Police were unable to locate the children.
Grimaud Lane at Moritz Drive: A woman said someone stole her boat cover and threw cans in her boat at 11:57 a.m. Sunday.
Maddox Drive: People were seen burning papers in an alley near the 7000 block at 12:08 p.m. Sunday.
Moody Circle: An iPod, glasses, toll road transponder and car charger, along with a Long Beach Police Department gear bag, were discovered stolen from a vehicle in the 16700 block at 12:39 p.m. Sunday.
Warmington Lane: A man who was out walking his dog said his neighbor started yelling at him, while taking pictures and video with his iPhone, in the 16000 block at 12:53 p.m. Sunday. The argument was over a neighborhood dispute.
Columbia Lane: A caller found broken glass near a playground’s swing equipment and play area in the 15100 block at 1:18 p.m. Sunday.
Trinidad Island Bridge: Juveniles were seen jumping off the bridge and swimming to private docks and back at 1:46 p.m. Sunday.
Golden West Street: A caller saw a pickpocket take a wallet from a woman at a swap meet in the 15700 block at 2:48 p.m. Sunday.
Forelle Drive: A caller in the 8100 block reported hearing shots from the direction of a church at 12:15 a.m. Sunday.
Vincent Circle: A man was seen passed out behind the wheel of his Nissan, with an open case of beer next to him, in the 7400 block at 11:43 a.m. Sunday.
Warner Avenue: A home improvement store employee in the store’s rope and chain area said she found three of the ropes had been tied in nooses, and believed it was a hate crime, in the 7100 block at 12:05 p.m. Sunday. Police decided no crime was committed.
Talbert Avenue at Ivorycrest Lane: A dog was seen running in and out of traffic at 1:27 p.m. Sunday.
Warner Avenue: Someone took money from a caller’s unlocked vehicle in the 6800 block at 3:52 p.m. Sunday.
Main Street: A cab driver was irate over a woman who threw up in his cab in the 400 block at 1:32 a.m. Sunday.
Main Street at Orange Avenue: A caller said their 1993 Geo Storm had been stolen at 2:53 a.m. Sunday.
19th Street at Walnut Avenue: A surfer returned to his car to find a window broken, with a wallet and mobile phone stolen, at 1:55 p.m. Sunday.
The Strand: A vehicle was discovered to have been keyed in a parking structure at 3:37 p.m. Sunday.
Tide Lane: Someone called 911 twice to report that their dog was trapped behind their heater at 12:53 a.m. Sunday. They were advised to get help from a repair man or a friend.
Hunter Lane: People were screaming at each other when their cat and dog fought in the 20700 block at 1:36 a.m. Sunday.
Hamilton Avenue at Brookhurst Street: A caller said she was chasing suspects who had stolen two bikes at 9:32 a.m. Sunday, but lost sight of them. Police recovered one of the bikes when the suspects left it behind and jumped over a neighborhood wall.
Beach Boulevard: A store employee said someone took a price tag from a more expensive item and put it on a less expensive item, then got a full refund for it, in the 19000 block at 12:56 p.m. Sunday.
Atlanta Avenue: A caller said her mother, whom she has a restraining order against, was texting messages to her like “you will suffer my wrath and will bring pain and torcher†in the 8400 block at 3:35 p.m. Sunday.
Dixie Street: A domestic dispute was reported in the 17400 block at 9:19 p.m. Sunday.
Oak Street: A domestic dispute was reported in the 17600 block at 5:49 p.m. Sunday.
Harbor Boulevard: A robbery was reported in a dollar store in the 16100 block at 7:10 a.m. Monday.
Edinger Avenue at Ward Street: A vehicle burglary was reported at 4:13 p.m. Sunday.
Morning Glory Avenue: A residential burglary was reported in the 10600 block at 8:52 a.m. Sunday.
Nightingale Avenue: Petty theft was reported in the 880 block at 11:03 a.m. Sunday.
Cardinal Avenue: Automotive tampering was reported in the 10300 block at 12:41 p.m. Sunday.
