Dolores “Dee” Rodriquez Harvey

76, passed away on August 3, 2009
of Alzheimer’s-related illness. She
was born on August 14, 1932, in
Los Angeles, the much-loved only
child of John and Ruth Rodriguez.
Dee graduated from Dorsey High
School and UCLA, where she was
a member of Alpha Chi Omega
Sorority. She married Frederick
Garrett Harvey in 1952, and was
devastated by his death in 1970.
Dee lived most of her adult life in
North Tustin, but loved her summers on Balboa Island. Dee
was a teacher, business-owner and administrative assistant
for Control Components and UCI. She retired in 1993 from
UCI, where she had worked in both the College of Medicine
(Community Affairs & Development) and the Brain
Imaging Center since 1988, coordinating docents, special
events and fund raising. However, after her retirement, she
continued her work as a volunteer until 2003. Dee was an
avid horsewoman, bridge player and Dallas Cowboy fan. She
attended many games and Super Bowls with her long time
friend, Bob Friedman. She was involved in many charities,
the foremost being the Orange County Guild for the John
Tracy Clinic. She donated her time to several AXO alumnae
and advisory organizations. Dee will be greatly missed by her
children Russ (Marti) Harvey, Linda (Michael) Berkley and
Valerie (James) Maguill; her grandsons Derek, Brian and
Christopher Berkley and Andrew and Patrick Maguill; her
extended family and many friends. Services will be held at
Pacific View Mortuary in Corona del Mar on Friday, August
7th at 12:00. A celebration of her life will be held following
the service at the family home on Balboa Island. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the John Tracy Clinic or
the Alzheimer’s Association.
