Woodrow Wilson DeWitt
Woodrow Wilson DeWitt, 93, died peacefully in his home
in Newport Beach, California, on Friday, July 10, 2009.
Woody, as his friends knew him, is survived by his son,
Richard DeWitt, his daughter, Mardel Sutton, eight grandchildren,
and 10 great-grandchildren.
Woody was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his
parents, Robert & Nora DeWitt, and eight brothers and
sisters.
Woody graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles,
and attended the University of Southern California.
Woody was a pioneer in the international and domestic
moving & storage business, and was the founder of DeWitt
International and DeWitt Moving & Storage.
Woody was one of the founders of Highland Federal
Bank, an active member in the Rotary Club LA 5, and a
long-time member of the Jonathon Club in Los Angeles.
Woody enjoyed golf tremendously, and was a member of the
Oakmont Country Club for many years. He was a supporter
of the USC Trojan Marching Band, and a Charter Lifetime
member of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) 11-99
foundation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to
the CHP 11-99 Foundation in memory of Woody DeWitt.
The Foundation provides benefits and scholarships to
California Highway Patrol family members and provides
assistance to Fallen in the Line of Duty CHP employees
and their families. Donations can be mailed to CHP 11-99

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at
9:00 a.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale, located
at 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, California, 91205,

Woody was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all who
knew and loved him.
