Three Pirates move on
Three players who helped the Orange Coast College men’s volleyball team reach the state final four are headed to four-year programs, Pirates Coach Travis Turner confirmed this week.
Mike Stewart, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker who twice earned first-team All-Pacific Coast Conference honors, has signed a letter of intent to play at Ohio State.
Doug Astor, a 6-4 setter who played two seasons at OCC, will continue at Pepperdine.
Rich Schroeder, a 6-6 sophomore middle blocker in 2009, is bound for UC Santa Cruz, a Division III program.
The trio helped OCC finish 13-9.
