Laguna Beach teams ready for All-Star play

The Laguna Beach Little League All-Star teams are geared up and ready to go for the District 55 All-Star Tournament, which begins Monday.
The Little League (age 11/12) All-Stars, coached by Mark Linton, have a first-round game against Lake Forest Tuesday at 5 p.m., at Lincoln Elementary in Newport Beach. A win there and Laguna Beach would play against Aliso Viejo at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the same venue.
The Laguna Beach 10/11 All-Star team, coached by Andy Hauer, will face Saddleback in a first-round game at 6 p.m. Monday, at Woodfield Park in Aliso Viejo. A victory would take Laguna into a second-round game at 6 p.m Wednesday . at the same venue, against host Aliso Viejo.
Laguna Beach Little League’s 9/10 All-Star team also faces Saddleback in a first-round game Monday at 5 p.m., at the La Paz Majors field in Rancho Niguel. A victory would take Coach Eric Wills’ club into a second-round game against Rancho Niguel at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Juniors All-Star team, coached by Cary Redfearn, will also be in action next week.
Unlike the Tournament of Champions, All-Stars is a double-elimination tournament. Winner’s and consolation brackets continue through the Little League title game, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 14 at Lincoln Elementary. The 10/11 All-Star title game is set for the same date and time at Woodfield Park in Aliso Viejo, while the 9/10 All-Star title game is scheduled for July 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Paz Majors field. District 55 All-Star tournament winners advance to the Section 10 tournament, beginning July 18.
