Library offering Festival of Folktales

The Huntington Beach Public Library is celebrating its 100th birthday with music galore at its annual Festival of Folktales on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Central Library’s Circle Driveway.

The event, hosted by the Friends of the Children’s Library and the Children’s Department, will kick off the Summer Reading Program with face painting, crafts and games.

Musical storytellers Matinko, Chazz and Ina and the International Music Bus will provide entertainment for the event.

Puppeteer Tait Hill, the Academy of International Dance, the Library Fairy and Professor Rumbledoor will also be on hand to entertain.

The Summer Reading Program’s celebration theme this year is “Home Run Readers: Celebrate 100 Years of Reading.” Children ages 2 to 12 can register for the program during the festival.

The event is sponsored by the Angels Baseball Foundation and the Beach Pit BBQ.

Tickets for the event are 50 cents each or 11 for $5. Food will also be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased in advance in the Children’s Department or during the festival.
