Silver Division
Girls’ third- and fourth-grade
St. Joachim 7, Mariners Christian 3: Sienna Siemonsma scored five goals to lead St. Joachim.
Mollie Crook and Emily Armijo added one goal each. St. Joachim also had strong defensive support from its goalies, Alex Garces-Saldana and Elizabeth Lyons. Armijo, Lyons and Claudia Bays contributed with assists.
Lexi Van Oostendorp worked the left side, while Isabella Segovia was battling on the right side to keep Mariners Christian away from the goal.
Mollie Allred won several balls in the midfield for St. Joachim, which also received contributions from Rachel Del Valle, Isabella Patrick, Marley Presiado, Julia Gregory, Hailey Macias and Allie Holmberg.
Silver Division
Boys’ fifth- and sixth-grade
Newport Elementary 3, St. Joachim 2: Mikey Lugo and Will Hinkleman scored one goal each for St. Joachim, which had Cooper Peters dishing two assists.
Newport Elementary scored the game-winner in the last two minutes. St. Joachim’s Patrick Kelly, Rafael LaFon and Rex Kathcart played great defense with help from goalie Andrew Pimental.
Boys’ third- and fourth-grade
St. Joachim 6, Wilson 1: St. Joachim goalie Carter Chapman had a great game with sweepers Michael Lehman and Cole Kinder also contributing. Ryan Del Valle made St. Joachim’s first goal with Cole Schattinger and Spencer Morrison assisting. Then Chandler Siemonsma made the second and third goals with Morrison again assisting. DJ Van Oostendorp (midfield) and Sam Miller saw some action. As Wilson tried to attack it was stopped by Kinder, who sent it up the field to Jake Thomas who passed it to Cole McFetters who then assisted Chandler Siemonsma for the team’s fourth goal. Hunter Hall and DJ Van Oostendorp continued to defend, helping McFetters score. The Sea Kings held off Wilson until the third quarter and Wilson’s team scored. Immediately Hall scored on an assist by Jake Thomas.
