CdM boys set school records, win league title

IRVINE — The Corona del Mar High boys’ team set three school records on its way to capturing the Pacific Coast League title Friday at Irvine High.
The Sea Kings won with 582 points ahead of second-place Irvine, which had 425.50.
Junior Michael Liao won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.66 to set a PCL and CdM record and was on the winning 200 medley relay that finished in a league-record time of 1:36.43, which was also a school record.
Freshman Jared Namba, who was also on the medley relay team, set a school record in the 100 backstroke (52.66) to finish second. Sophomores John Kim and Matt Berry were also on the medley relay team.
Berry also won the 50 free (21.75) and 100 free (47.56). Kim won the 100 butterfly (51.39)
