All-star hoops game with locals set for Saturday

Huntington Beach locals, 18 in all, have been selected for the 2009 Kiwanis/PlyoCity Orange County High School All-Star basketball games.

All games will take place Saturday at Mission Viejo High.

Athletes in the senior girls’ big schools game, set for 4:30 p.m., include Kelly Peterson and Michelle Yamasaki of Edison High, Marina’s Rita Sitivi and Rachel Sweezy of Ocean View.

Zach Kimber and Nick Neser of Huntington Beach, along with Marina’s Garrett James and Ocean View’s Mason Jones, are on the roster for the senior boys’ big schools game at 8 p.m.

Brethren Christian’s Jeff Jefferson and Christian Cazarez are in the small schools game at 1:30 p.m.

In addition, there will be girls’ and boys’ underclassmen games. Edison’s Bonnie Samuelson is in the girls’ game at 3 p.m. Brendan Holmes, J.J. James and Tyler James of Marina, as well as Avery Johnson of Ocean View and Edison’s Dylan Garrity, will be in the boys’ contest at 6:30 p.m.
