Barbara Carlson (Garner)

Beloved mother and grandmother, Barbara passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at her Newport Beach residence.

She is survived by her three children and their families; Christian Garner, his wife Marcie and children Rhodes and Raleigh, Karen Marshall and her daughter Courtney and Kimberley Walker and her husband Dan.

Barbara was born in Los Angeles on September 11, 1931. Growing up in Hancock Park, she attended Los Angeles High School and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1953. Marrying in the same year to her high school sweetheart, John Garner, they continued together through medical school, raising a family, philanthropy and enjoying many friends in the Pasadena area.

Re-marrying in 1985 to Gilbert Carlson, Barbara moved to Newport Beach where she was a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

A strong woman with an equal dose of style and beauty, she has left a legacy and will be sorely missed.

According to her wishes, Barbara’s remains will be scattered at sea.
