HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP:

NEWPORT BEACH — Camden Nicholson, Mike Moorhead and Brian Mull all shot one-over-par 35 to share medalist honors and help the Corona del Mar High’ boys golf team clinch an outright Pacific Coast League title at Newport Beach Country Club.

The Sea Kings (14-2) remained undefeated in league at 9-0 with a 184-209 win against University Tuesday.

John Davenport shot 37, while Ryan Grable and Connor Cruse both shot 39 for CdM, which plays against Mission Viejo today.

The Sea Kings will try for an undefeated PCL run Thursday against San Juan Hills.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Newport Harbor def. Marina

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior opposite Hamilton Day recorded 13 kills, helping the Sailors improve to 7-0 in Sunset League play with a 25-16, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23 win Tuesday.

Darren Leggett finished with 22 assists and 14 digs. Cody Caldwell had eight kills.

JB Green had six kills and two blocks for Newport Harbor (20-7), which is ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll.

The Sailors play at Esperanza Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Corona del Mar def. Laguna Hills

CORONA DEL MAR — Joey Cooper had nine kills and four digs to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-23 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Dylan Davis had seven kills, Spencer Haly five kills and Ryan Stanek four kills for CdM (20-7, 6-0 in league), which also received contributions from Connor Bannan (25 assists and four aces) and Nick Curci (six assists and three digs).

The Sea Kings play at Irvine on Friday.

Sage Hill def. Whitney

NEWPORT COAST — Senior Bayle Smith finished with 20 kills, leading the Lightning to a 25-14, 15-25, 25-17, 25-16 Academy League victory Tuesday.

Trent Friedman had five services aces and Alex Lowe contributed five kills and four blocks.

Sage Hill (11-11, 4-2 in league), ranked No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division V coaches’ poll, plays at Capistrano Valley Christian Thursday at 5 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Ahmed Eltamami shot a one-under-par 35, earning individual medalist honors for the Lightning in an Academy League match at Big Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

Stephen Grant finished with a 42 and Jared Hoffman had a 43.

Sage Hill (13-2, 8-0 in league) plays rival St. Margaret’s today at Marbella Country Club at 3:30 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Estancia senior Ryan Knapp was medalist with a two-over par 38 in the nonleague match Tuesday at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

Also scoring for Estancia (13-4) were Storm Hagen (40), Jake Knapp (41), Jordan Young (48) and Spencer Roberts (54).

The Eagles play at Laguna Beach today in a big Orange Coast League match. Estancia is 10-0 in league and can clinch the league title outright with a victory.

YORBA LINDA — Travis Russell and Mychael Clark both shot four-over-par 40 in the Sunset League match at Black Gold Golf Club Tuesday.

Ericson Klein carded a 42, while Zach Eddy and Kawika Morse both shot 43 for Newport Harbor (14-5, 5-3 in league).

Esperanza’s Ricky Awaki (35) was the medalist.

The Sailors play against Edison Thursday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Laguna Hills 5

LAGUNA HILLS — Senior Danny Moskovits belted a grand slam in the fourth inning to help the Sea Kings pull away for the Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Mitch Sands was two for three with a double for CdM (11-9, 7-3 in league), which moved into a tie for second place in the PCL with Laguna Hills. The Sea Kings, which own the tiebreaker against the Hawks, play host to Laguna Hills Friday.

COSTA MESA — Elizabeth Cramer, Lauren Crites, Laure Grupe and Sierra Michaelsen scored two goals each for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Tuesday at Harper Community Center.

Madeline Storch and Morgan Fabian had one goal each, while Stephanie Storch defended well for Newport Harbor (12-4, 6-1 in league), which clinched a playoff spot.

NEWPORT COAST — Sally Mace scored three goals for the Lightning Tuesday.

Danielle Kain scored her first goal, while Walker Moore had 13 saves for Sage Hill (3-7), which plays at Corona del Mar Friday.

PLACENTIA — Sophomore Tracy Beblie won two of the sets he played in No. 1 singles Tuesday, helping the Sailors in a Sunset League match.

Daron Arnold and Cameron Chase swept in No. 1 doubles, improving their set record to 19-0.

Newport Harbor (7-1 in league) plays host to Edison Thursday at 3 p.m.

IRVINE — Junior Ryan Peyton led the Sea Kings at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.

In doubles, Matt Fisher and Parker Rhodes won 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Alex Murray and Pierce Stemler won, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for Corona del Mar (14-3, 6-1 in league), which plays host to Northwood in nonleague action today.

CERRITOS — The Lightning’s Andrew Dorne won two events at in the Academy League meet at Cerritos Park East Tuesday.

He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute 56.28 seconds and the 500 free in 5:06.62.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Whitney 28, Sage 16

CERRITOS — Kelly Carpenter won the 500-yard freestyle in 6 minutes, 35.47 seconds for the Lightning in the Academy League meet at Cerritos Park East Tuesday.

Sage Hill has two swimmers on the team. Jordan Smith-Newman was the only to compete in the 50 free in 28.5 and the 100 backstroke in 1:13.71.

SOFTBALL

Fountain Valley 9,

Newport Harbor 1

NEWPORT BEACH — Alex Bauer and Sydney Freeman had two hits each for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Tuesday.

Bauer also struck out four in four innings for Newport Harbor (6-13, 0-5 in league).
