Locals to compete in Ojai Valley Junior Tennis event

Joseph Di Giulio highlights the list of locals competing in the 109th annual Ojai Valley Junior Tennis Tournament that starts today and ends Saturday at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.

Di Giulio, a Costa Mesa resident, is the No. 2 seed in the boys’ 16 singles division. He will play against Carlos Figueroa in the first round today at 11 a.m. Matthew Fisher of Newport Beach, Corona del Mar High sophomore Joel Ishii and Corona del Mar resident Connor Cole are also competing in the division.

Corona del Mar High’s Danielle Kaiden and Lindsay Zotovich are No. 3 in girls’ 18s doubles, while Sea Kings Kelli Feeley and Karen Ishii are No. 4 in the division. Estancia’s Alex Payzant and Erin Rodman, as well Kendra Fisher and Laurel Hinson are also competing in the division.

Estancia senior Ellie Edles is the No. 5 seed in the girls’ 18s singles division.

Mater Dei’s Chris Freeman, a Costa Mesa resident and Corona del Mar High senior Ryan Peyton are competing in the CIF boys’ singles division.

Newport Beach’s Mazy Watrous is the No. 5 seed in the girls’ 14 singles division.

Newport Beach’s Morgan McVey and Corona del Mar resident Neda Ghassemi are in the girls’ 16s singles division.

Corona del Mar High’s Shane Korber and Parker Rhodes, as well as Estancia’s Ely Zaidler and Danny O’Neil are in the boys’ CIF doubles division.
