Samples of Surf City

Surf City will bring back a slice of local flavor on April 26, with this year’s Taste of Huntington Beach from noon to 4 p.m. at the Huntington Beach Outdoor Sports Complex, 18100 Goldenwest St.
The charity event includes samples of foods from local restaurants, paired with sips from the state and city’s own wineries and breweries, live entertainment and a silent auction.
Organizers have created a new website, tastehb.com, which includes a hall of fame of past award winners; a list of participating vendors; ticket information; and information on how to sponsor or sign up for next year’s Taste.
All proceeds will benefit the children’s wing of the Huntington Beach library and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley and Project Self Sufficiency.
“With the economy being the way it is, and with the news being so depressing, I think this year is more important to our guests than ever before — because it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and all the tastes, while knowing that your money is going to a good cause,” said Taste of Huntington Beach Chairwoman Erika Reardon.
She encouraged locals to use their discretionary income to make the children’s library a little wealthier, rather than feeding the coffers of movie stars. Tickets are $60; the first 100 guests will receive a free city Centennial tote bag.
