Rey, Richard (Dick) Charles, 80, of Newport Beach, CA, lost his fight with cancer on March 13th, 2009. He was born on October 21, 1928, in Los Angeles, CA and was known by his friends as “Dick” Rey. He worked at the Los Angeles Times for ten years until he was offered a job at a local car dealership. He remained in the Automobile Business for over 50 years until last summer. He enjoyed music (especially Frank Sinatra, big band and just about anything disco) and dancing, but most of all he loved coaching soccer. He was a soccer coach for club soccer for 3 years and for AYSO, Region 57, for over fifteen years, where a volunteer award in his name is given out annually. He is survived by his children, Christopher Rey, Carolyn DeMoss, Kathy Lammering, Tammy Rodriguez and Richard Charles Rey I I, eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM, at the Serrano Apartments Clubhouse, 100 Wycliffe, Irvine, CA 92602.
