Misiaita earns second straight Big West honor

UC Irvine junior Alisha Misiaita has earned her second consecutive Big West Conference women’s field Athlete of the Week honor.

Misiaita finished third in the shot put with a mark of 51 feet, 8 1/2 inches at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin April 3.

Misiaita broke her own school record the previous week with a mark of 51-9 3/4 at the Cal/Nevada Championships.

The UCI track and field teams face host Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Challenge Cup Friday at the Titan Track Complex.
