Three men broke in at gunpoint, police say

Police are looking into the motive behind a home invasion over the weekend in which three men forced themselves into a Costa Mesa apartment at gunpoint and robbed the man inside.
About 8:52 p.m. Saturday a tenant in the Villa Siena Apartment Homes off Adams Avenue between Fairview Street and Pinecreek Drive in Costa Mesa answered a knock at his door and was greeted with a handgun and three men forcing their way in, police said Monday.
Two of the men stayed inside the apartment while the third man stayed outside acting as a lookout, said Sgt. Bryan Glass. The men rummaged through the apartment and eventually made off with personal items and cash, Glass said. The tenant was not injured in the incident.
When police responded to the scene, they found a room that was apparently being used to cultivate marijuana plants, which the tenant said was for personal use only, Glass said.
He is being investigated by authorities, officials said.
