TVs robbed at gunpoint from electronics store

Authorities are searching for two men who took over an electronics store in Costa Mesa at gunpoint and made off with thousands of dollars in equipment, police said Monday.

Just before 5 p.m. Friday, two men walked into the Electronic Stockroom, 3396 Sunland Way, and pulled a gun on the lone store clerk and ordered him to the ground, Sgt. Bryan Glass said.

Police said the men taped the clerk’s hands together and then began making off with several large, flat-screen TVs.

The two robbers loaded them into a white van parked just outside but were interrupted by a UPS delivery man who saw them loading equipment and figured them for customers, Glass said.

The robbers confronted the UPS employee and ordered him to lie on the ground, where they taped his hands together too, police said.

A detailed description of the two robbers was not immediately available Monday.

The store clerk and UPS delivery man were not injured in the robbery, police said.
