SAN DIEGO — Corona del Mar High posted three wins at Alliant International University to win its pool Friday.
The Sea Kings (4-0) will face San Clemente today at Epic Volleyball Club in Poway.
CdM opened with a 20-25, 25-19, 15-7 win against Carlsbad. Weston Nielsen had 10 kills, Dylan Davis eight kills and Connor Bannan 22 assists.
The Sea Kings also beat Pacific Palisades, 25-10, 25-14. Nielsen had nine kills, Davis six and Joey Cooper three.
CdM then defeated Buchanan, 25-19, 28-30, 15-10. Davis led with 15 kills, Spencer Haly added five kills and Danny Baker had 16 digs.
There are now 16 teams remaining vying to capture the tournament title today.

SAN DIEGO — Newport Harbor battled through injures to go 2-1 Friday at Alliant International University, but won its pool.
The Sailors will face Rancho Bernardo today at Epic Volleyball Club in Poway.
The Sailors beat Harvard-Westlake, 25-18, 21-25, 15-5, to open the tournament. Cody Caldwell led with 11 kills, Hamilton Day had eight kills and four blocks and Connor Curry had three aces and seven digs.
Newport Harbor then lost to Torrey Pines, 25-27, 25-14, 12-15. Caldwell had nine kills and eight digs and Cailen Sullivan had eight kills. Day added six kills and Curry had 14 digs and one ace.
During the match, Day sprained his ankle and will be out two to three weeks, Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn said. Setter Darren Leggett suffered a knee injury during the match too. Senior JB Green did not play Friday, as he is out with a strained Achilles, sustained against Laguna Beach Monday.
The Sailors ended Friday with a 25-16, 16-25, 15-13 against Santa Barbara. Caldwell led with nine kills, Michael Maddox had five kills, Will Conley had four kills, three blocks and four digs, and Curry had five digs and three aces.

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman Gabby Smith recorded five goals and two assists in the Sea Kings’ nonleague game Friday.
Hillary Bush contributed five goals and Adriane Knezevic had two goals and one assist for CdM (3-1).
The Sea Kings play at Irvine Monday at 6 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior Alex Rios went two for four with a run batted in for the Sailors in a Lerner Bracket consolation-round game at the Newport Elks Tournament in Friday.
Austin Wobrock went one for two with an RBI for Newport Harbor (0-5).
Newport Harbor plays at Corona del Mar in the Battle of the Bay Tuesday at 3 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Junior outside hitter Kohl Jones had three kills for the Eagles, but Saddleback won the nonleague match, 25-8, 25-21, 25-11, Friday.
Davon Joyner had 2 1/2 blocks for the Eagles (0-3).

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Senior Greg Berchtold and freshman Alex Manolakas swept No. 1 doubles action in the Lightning’s nonleague match Friday.
Alex Koeberle swept No. 1 singles action, losing only two games for Sage Hill (4-3).
The Lightning play at Laguna Beach Tuesday at 3 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Senior Wes Barloon, junior Frankie Gonzalez and sophomore Connor Graham won two events each in the nonleague meet Friday at Estancia.
Gonzalez won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 15.7 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:08.3. Barloon touched first in the 200 individual medley in 2:23.7 and 100 butterfly in 1:03.8, a personal best. Graham took first in the 50 free in 25.1 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.7.
Sophomore Matt Thome won the 100 free in 58.91, while sophomore Asher Twardowski won the 500 free in 5:52.6.
Estancia improved to 3-1.
