Theodore Adam Gielow
Theodore Adam “Ted” Gielow,
born May 12, 1972, in Hoag
Memorial Hospital Presbyterian,
Newport Beach, the son
of Thomas A. and Judith M.
Gielow of Costa Mesa. Ted grew
up in Costa Mesa, became an
Eagle Scout, musician, athlete,
and NHHS grad. After attending
college in Indiana, he lived
in University Hills for ten years
while working for UCI’s Network and Academic Computing
Services and with the UCI Library. He died February 17th at
his Costa Mesa condo.
Ted was a gentle, kind, and soft spoken man. He was generous
in his support of social justice issues both financially
and in his volunteer time. Ever inquisitive, his genius with
computers led to his design of numerous specialized, digital
video cameras.
Ted is survived by his parents, his younger brother Tony, an
older brother Tim (Cynthia), and nephew Thad. The family,
especially Thad, misses him very much.
A service in celebration of Ted’s life will be held at 2PM, on
Saturday, March 14, 2009, at St. Mark Presbyterian Church,
2200 San Joaquin Hills Road, Newport Beach, 92660, where
he was an active member all his life. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests donations in Ted’s name to the Memorial
Fund or the Parry Environmental Scholarship at St. Mark.
