Economic Downturn Means More Addiction in OC

COSTA MESA –Addiction rates have been rising as the economy falls as observed by New Directions for Women, a nonprofit women’s treatment center in Costa Mesa.

Families are unable to spend or secure credit to treat their addicted loved ones even as addiction rates rise.

New Directions has responded to the economic slump by introducing two new programs; Intensive Sober Living and Evening Intensive Outpatient (IOP).

Federally recognized, these programs can alleviate hurdles associated with obtaining treatment by offering an affordable program to treat addiction at roughly 20% the cost of traditional inpatient treatment.

IOP is usually covered by insurance, and delivers many of the same industry-leading treatment services as inpatient treatment while allowing participants to maintain employment.

ABOUT NEW DIRECTIONS’ INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP):

IOP is a 16-week, evening program designed to treat addiction for women who work, attend school, have completed a residential stay and want more treatment, or are not able to commit to inpatient treatment. Using an acclaimed 12-step-based program called the Matrix Model, patients may enter the IOP at any stage of treatment and address key issues to sustained recovery such as social support, relapse prevention and family involvement.

Intensive Sober Living program provides a safe and supportive place for patients to live combined with the continued treatment services of the IOP. Intensive Sober Living is designed to smoothly transition residents from inpatient treatment back into the community.
