Anteaters’ Packard named Big West Player of Month

UC Irvine sophomore Hillary Packard was named Big West Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for February.

Packard won her first collegiate tournament after shooting 218 at San Diego State’s Aztec Invitational, Feb. 15 through 17 at Salt Creek Golf Club in San Diego.

Packard shot a 68 in the first round, the low round of the tournament.

Packard also finished fourth to lead UCI to a team title at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, Feb. 23-24 at Copper River Country Club in Fresno.

Her 54-hole total of 216 (73-73-70) was her lowest career total for three rounds. She led the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.50 average and was tied for third in birdies with 11.

The Anteaters have won three tournaments in 2008-09, the most in one season in the program’s history.
