Los Amigos’ Vu earns top honor
Los Amigos High senior running back Ricky Vu has been named the Offensive Player of the Year on the 2008 All-Garden Grove League football team.
Vu is one of 11 Lobos to make the all-league team in a season in which Los Amigos earned a share of the league championship.
Earning first-team honors on offense were Jose Leon, Rafat Khalil and Jose Gonzalez. On defense, Daniel Nunez, Isaac Tucker, Fidel Mendoza and Jose Perez earned first-team nods.
On the second team, Julio Espinoza and Edgar Esqueda were named on the offensive side and Francisco Pullido was named on the defensive side.
Seahawks baseball hosts fundraiser
The Ocean View High baseball boosters will hold their fourth annual Texas Hold’em fundraiser Feb. 21.
The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Centerfeld Grill, on Beach Boulevard just south of Warner Avenue. The event features professional dealers, chips, tables and pit-bosses where more than $1,000 in prizes and giveaways will take place.
The cost to enter the fundraiser is $60. The fundraising event has been a sell-out in previous years.

Kickball league coming to Surf City
The World Adult Kickball Assn. is taking registration for coed adult kickball divisions for individuals, small groups and full teams.
The local division, CA Surf City Division, begins play Feb. 2.
All games during the eight-week season will be played Monday evenings at the Edison Community Center (21377 Magnolia St.).
The cost for the season is $67.
Fees include team shirts, equipment, season social events, division bar discounts and other items.
