Student heads to mock Supreme Court tourney

Huntington Beach resident Tim Appelbaum will be a member of one of three teams sent by Cal State Long Beach to the national American Collegiate Moot Court Assn. national tournament, which will be Friday and Saturday at Chapman University.

The three two-person teams won top honors at the Western Regional event on the Cal State Long Beach campus.

Appelbaum is a college senior majoring in marketing and management, who is paired with political science major Heather Pegg.

He was one of the top orators at the Western Regional tourney.

Moot Court is also known as mock Supreme Court, and simulates an appellate court proceeding. Teams from across the country will all compete on a hypothetical case on free speech on a college campus.
