CORONA DEL MAR — Conley Kipp delivered 17 kills and two solo blocks to help the Sea Kings win, 25-19 25-16 21-25 25-22, to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs.
Madie Smith had 44 assists, 19 digs and eight kills for CdM (21-7), while Claire Ham contributed 11 kills and two blocks. Catherine Sullivan had 20 digs and Sydney Brombal had seven kills, 18 digs and two service aces for the Sea Kings, who will play at Beckman at 7 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST — The Lightning nearly upset the top-seeded Warriors, who won the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA quarterfinal match, 25-8, 21-25, 25-13, 24-26, 24-22 Saturday night.
Senior Tierney Danner had 11 kills and five blocks, while freshman Zoe Kreitenberg had 10 kills and six blocks for Sage (15-11). Junior Lindsey Kish added nine kills, two blocks, three aces and nine digs. Setter Hana Hunt had 41 assists, two kills and 17 digs.
“Even though we could have won the match, our girls played their best match of the year,” Sage Hill Coach Dan Thomassen said.

MANHATTAN BEACH — Melissa Matsuoka and Katelyn Nguyen swept in singles to help the top-seeded Sea Kings remain undefeated after the second-round match of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs Saturday.
The Sea Kings swept in doubles, as the team of Danielle Kaiden and Lindsay Zotovich dropped just three games. CdM will play the Northwood-Troy winner. The Northwood-Troy match has been postponed to Monday because there was a fire near Troy in Fullerton.

OXNARD — Isa-Maria Taskinen and Rian Billingsley swept at No. 1 doubles to help lead the No. 2-seeded Lightning to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs.
Julia Blakeley, Jaclyn Smrecek and Katie Bick each won twice in singles for Sage Hill (22-6), which will play against Cajon Tuesday at a site to be determined by a coin flip today.

Newport Harbor boys
WALNUT — The Sailors qualified sixth as a team in the four-heat CIF Southern Section Division II preliminaries Saturday at Mt. SAC.
Senior Jake Dawson was third in Newport Harbor’s heat with a time of 15 minutes, 44 seconds. He was followed by senior Michael Taylor in fifth (15:50). Also placing were seniors Alex Crawford (20th, 16:13), Scott Figueroa (26th, 16:18) and Saul Delarosa (45th, 16:39). Junior Jake Manning was 54th in 16:52 and Eddie Garcia was 62nd in 17:02.
Newport Harbor advances to next Saturday’s Division II finals at Mt. SAC, where the Sailors will need to finish top seven in Division II to advance to the state meet.

The Sailors qualified for next week’s final after finishing third in their heat in Division II Saturday.
Senior Erica Pearson finished 10th in 19:28, while sophomore Tori Sarris followed in 11th in 19:34. Senior Desiree Alexander was 13th in 19:39 and freshman Lauren Clemence came in 17th in 19:51.
Juniors Ava Nelson (40th in 20:41), Kasey DeYoung (52nd in 21:23) and Patty Moddelmog (75th in 22:14) also competed for Harbor.
Sage Hill girls
WALNUT — Senior Cait Williamson finished second in 13 minutes, 27 seconds on the shortened two-mile course in Division V Saturday, helping the Lightning advance as a team.
The course was shortened due to the poor air quality caused from the fires.
Caroline Grant was 13th (14:29), Jackie Dion 20th (14:52), Megan Culberson 40th (15:48) and Sanna Taskinen 42nd (15:52).
Sage Hill boys
The Lightning advanced as a team in Division V, finishing fifth in its heat.
Lion Wintemute was fifth in 11:31, David Penner 25th (12:27), Slater Stanley 26th (12:29), Kyle Simon 37th (12:50) and Alex Jimenez 39th (12:58).
Corona del Mar girls
The Sea Kings won their three-mile heat to advance in Division III as junior Melanie Powers (second, 18:07), senior Laura Bilder (third, 18:26), Kim Condino (sixth, 18:45) and freshman Ashlee Powers (10th, 19:22) led the way.
Corona del Mar boys
The Sea Kings finished fifth in their three-mile heat to advance in Division III. Senior Matt Haug was 11th (16:31), junior Sebastien Welch was 16th (16:41) and Austin Barvin was 19th (16:44).
Estancia boys
Senior Fernando Orozco finished fourth in his three-mile heat (16:06) to help the Eagles advance as a team in Division III.
Senior Wes Barloon was 17th (16:43).
