Man dies after driving into palm tree

A Huntington Beach man died after his car struck a median palm tree Thursday night.
Bryan Jones, 39, was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m. on Goldenwest Street near Ernest Avenue.
About 7:30 p.m., Huntington Beach police responded to a call of a possible drunk driver. The vehicle was described as a green Toyota Paseo traveling southbound Goldenwest in the area of Ellis.
Responding police units were in the area when a Toyota, driven by Jones, swerved toward the center median of Goldenwest at Ernest street. Jones then crashed into a center median palm tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. Witnesses are asked to contact the Huntington Beach Police Department Traffic Bureau at (714) 536-5670.
