LOS ALAMITOS — Goalie Isle Anderson recorded nine saves for the Sea Kings in a quarterfinal of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs at Joint Forces Training Base Friday night.

Lucas Reynolds, Brian Schiefer, Michael Liao, Carter Taylor, Max Bergeson and Chase Watson scored one goal each for CdM (18-10).

COSTA MESA — Cody Serrano scored five goals for the Mustangs in their CIF Southern Section Division III quarterfinal loss at Estancia High Friday.

Travis Wright scored one goal and goalie Jackson O’Connor recorded seven saves for Mesa (19-11).

“We had a great year,” Mustangs Coach Justin Taylor said. “There’s a lot of firsts for us. This year was the first time we beat our league rival Sage Hill, we did that twice. It’s the first time we made the postseason in the Academy League and first time we played for the league title in that league. I’m extremely proud of the guys. They did a phenomenal job.”

NEWPORT COAST — Sophomore Taylor Ross rushed for 68 yards on nine carries for the Lightning in Academy League action Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Colton Gyulay threw for 10 yards, completing two of his seven attempts with no interceptions for Sage Hill (2-8, 1-2 in league), which did not make the playoffs.

The Tartans, ranked No. 1 the CIF Southern Section East Valley Division, won its 38th straight game and held Sage to 57 total yards.
