City sued by family of woman who had fatal fall

The family of a San Dimas woman has sued the city of Huntington Beach in a wrongful-death claim resulting from the woman’s fall last year in standing water near a storm drain.
A jury trial date was set today for Aug. 10.
Cora Hill, 65, slipped and fractured her left femur late in the evening of Aug. 31, 2007, on the 22000 block of Susan Lane, a county civil complaint filed in March read.
Hill died of a stroke on May 4, after what the family contends is a string of events that began with the broken thigh bone.
The family had complained three years before the fall about the standing water in the area of the drain, but was told funds weren’t available to repair it.
