A Successful Grand Opening for the the Peter Blake Gallery

On October 11, the Peter Blake Gallery reopened at its new location on Ocean Avenue in the heart of Laguna Beach. Two months after Peter Blake decided to relocate from North Pacific Highway to 435 Ocean, he was able to hold a grand opening featuring paintings by renowned local artist Chris Gwaltney.
As the more than 1500 guest began arriving, Laguna mayor Jane Egly and Blake initiated the festivities with a ribbon cutting. The spacious galleries were soon filled to capacity.
Designed by Laguna Beach architect Anders Lasater, the galleries were created to accommodate large works of art and to also allow viewers enough room to take in their full impact. The interior’s clean lines evidence Lasater’s and Blake’s efforts to keep the art as the primary focus of the space.
Gwaltney’s newest series of figurative paintings rendered in a lively yet subtle palette complemented both the gallery and the guests’ festive mood.
The Chris Gwaltney exhibition will be open until November 15. The artist will be present for the First Thursday Artwalk event on November 6, from 6 to 9 pm.
