Second finger-injury lawsuit filed against school
A senior at Huntington Beach High School has filed a lawsuit against the school district, alleging that a door on campus smashed one of her fingers because it was defective.
According to the lawsuit, student Alexina Karsh’s finger was smashed by a door that wasn’t properly secured, so it slammed shut in the wind. Karsh, who missed an Advanced Placement exam because of the injury, is seeking more than $25,000, plus medical expenses and the cost of the lawsuit.
The district denied the claims, saying that Karsh negligently or improperly handled the door, according to Orange County Superior Court documents. District officials declined comment.
It was the second finger-injury lawsuit against the school in recent months.
