Anteaters’ Pestolesi earns all-tournament accolade

UC Irvine sophomore outside hitter Kari Pestolesi was named all-tournament at the Golden Dome Invitational completed Sunday at Notre Dame.
In three matches, losses to Notre Dame and Liberty and a win over Central Michigan, Pestolesi collected 35 kills, 40 digs and three blocks. She had two double-doubles in the tournament.
On the season, Pestolesi, the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year last season, leads UCI (5-8) with 142 kills, a 3.46 per-set average. She also tops the team with 13 service aces and is second with 122 digs.
UCI opens Big West play at UC Riverside Saturday at 7 p.m.
