YOUTH SCENE:
Cooper Kossick and Connor Venanzi got into the scoring action and the Golden Potatoes defense posted a shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Sharks in the opening week of play in AYSO Region 56 boys’ Under-12 division soccer.
The Sharks got a pair of solid shots on goal from Jake Gergen and Hank Skolnick in the first quarter, but each was stopped by Golden Potatoes keeper Chad Faas.

Kyle Barba scored an unassisted goal in overtime to decide what had been an evenly played match, as the Rink Rats defeated the Warriors, 5-4, in a Smythe Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Peter Skowron, Tyler Barba and Jack McKeown also scored for the Rink Rats.
Joseph Loya scored twice for the Warriors and Brandon Entwistle and Bobby Holland scored once.
IDK 8, Puckhogs 7: IDK rallied for five goals in the final period to beat the Puckhogs in a Howe Division contest.
Riley Draghi’s three goals paced IDK. Corey Childers and Cole Pavlik each scored twice.
Lawrence Benavente scored three times for the Puckhogs and Dylan Rightley scored once.
Sharks 3, Kings 1: The Sharks took a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter and made it stand as they knocked off the Kings in an Adams Division game.
Cole Obenauer scored twice, Carter Fenley scored once and Geoffrey Campbell had 18 saves.
Eric Connor scored off a feed from Joe Nickerson and Karli Barrett had 14 saves.
