New firetruck, equipment on the way for firefighters
A new truck will be joining the Costa Mesa Fire Department’s fleet soon, after the department received a new grant of $25,000 from the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.
The department will also be celebrating an $8,600 donation that helped it purchase firefighting equipment and training software with a ceremonial check presentation at the end of October.
“We were lucky enough to get two of these grants,” said Grant Administrator Lynda Jenkins.
The truck will be used to transport the deputy fire chief to fires, earthquakes and other natural disasters, and to transport supplies and tow the department’s education trailer.
Extra funds that come from grants from the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company supplement the money given to the fire department by the city.
